Community resources

There are a number of resources available to help Jackson County residents quit smoking. Read through the list below tosee which option best meets your personal needs.

Jackson County Health Department provides a number of smoking cessation options for its residents. Among its many activities, the department helps sponsor and coordinate programs, acts as a source of free information (especially for pregnant women), and provides assistance with referrals. They also offer FREE quit smoking kits.

American Lung Association/
Illinios Department of Public Health

Call Center-Free phone call
Will answer questions about lung health, quitting smoking, etc. Will do personalized smoking cessation counseling over the phone. (No limit to the number of calls). Hours of operation: 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. If put on hold, leave your contact information and your call will be returned.

Student Health Programs
Community members can participate in quit smoking programs for an initial fee of $40 with a $10 refund upon completion of the program. The cost of patches is not included in the fee.
